Long time no type..

Okay, releasing those that you thought meant something to you turns out to be a very difficult time. However, it also turns out to be a mental refresher! Can we say, "Weight off your shoulder?"

Anyhow, in the world of D'Ontae, everything has been going well. I have my first oral argument in a few days, which is going to be pretty cool! I need to pull from my brief the most relevant facts to argue! Needless to say, law school is going extremely well; however, it demands a lot of work...Let me let you into a typical day of D'Ontae:

4 a.m.: Exercise
5:10 a.m.: shower and dress
6:00 a.m.: out the door for work
6:30 a.m.: At work
8:00 a.m.: leave to go to class
8:30 a.m.: begin my day of classes
12:30 p.m.: Leave to head back to work
6:00 p.m.: Off of work
6:30 p.m.: Walk the doggies
7:00 p.m.: Fix dinner
7:45 p.m.: Study / Read
12:00 or 12:30 a.m.: Sleep or attempt to...

This is the day of D'Ontae, anyone wants to join? Needless to say, I have no life, no friends, and no love life...So yes, if I am cranky, just go back to this post and say, now I understand!

Best Regards,

Darkness...

Good Night People,

Sometimes darkness seems to just hoover over you...No matter what happens, something just keeps me down...Is it because of family, school, personal life, work, or etc? I just don't know. I used to be able to talk to folks on aim all night--not anymore!

I am just ready to throw my hands up!

Simple is sometimes good...

Good Morning,

So I am on the plane headed to Chicago from Norfolk, and then on to Albuquerque. It is amazing how sometimes the best vacations are the kind that are simple free flow. Being away from my son has been extremely hard for me, despite negative comments from so-called friends. When I am around, he just seems to spark the new found sense of life for me. Now back to the simply free-flowing vacations: It just seems when you go through a rigorous planning process that you lose sense of what it feels like to simple have fun. Normally when I return home, I go through this step process prior to arriving of what we are going to do. However, this time, I simply just went with the motions--essentially what Davi wanted is what we did! Before you parents start saying that I am spoiling him, I think I am just allowing him to express himself and allowing his creative juices flow. Anyhow, we had a good ole time, simply camping out in his room, eating chips for breakfast, climbing up and down his bunk beds, and watching Underdog a gazillon times. Despite the effortless plans, it was a blast! I was free, open and HAPPY!

On my last night there (yesterday for all you math geniuses), we went to the movies, but first we had to go to the disorientation clinic--the friendly mall's child section (truly these children must shoot up candy in their veins)-- where he ripped and ran and simply had a blast! So we finally went to see bedtime stories (mixed feelings), but it just reminded me how I grew up so fast and failed to fully explore the cave of never endedness (yes, I know this isn't a word, but that's the beauty of blogging) known as your imagination. The world seems to strip that away from people quite quickly--even when you are seeming to enjoy it. Yes, sometimes simple is good. Simply pretending. Simply reading. Aye, yes, simple is good.

Then Davi decided we all needed to see Marley and Me. Surely, I protested against this movie--why do I care about Jennifer Aniston (she's hot though), Owen Wilson and some blond haired Lab? I simply loved this movie. It made me reflect on my dogs, Pincher, Malito, and Patches (he's actually with my son in Virginia). Yes, I cried--thinking about the loved ones I lost--the ones who you sometimes take for granted or the ones that you actually tried to truly please and once they left, your desire to please is drained. Dogs, unlike people, have this unfailing love for their owners. Their love is very simple! They don't care if you were laid off, if you didn't get them big gifts on certain holidays, if you don't act like their sibling's significant other does, if you don't say I love you too often, and a host of other things! They simply want to jump on you when come home to show their love...in the most simplest way, licking, cuddling, and etc. Dogs don't care that your career isn't picking up like you hoped it to be or that you are miserable in the new city you moved to. They simply want to show you they love you...in the most simplest way: bringing a bone to play fetch, rubbing your legs, or simply laying at the foot of the bed. Oh yes, dogs are simple lovers.

I realized how I can come home from a hard's day of work or a long day of studying at the law school, and how they simply want to love me. I realized that they simply want to be able to be them: simple lovers.

If only relationships worked that way. People need to return to the simple. What's wrong with simply wanting to come home and not fight? What's wrong with simply being together for one's birthday without all the showering of gifts? What's wrong with simple supporting someone while they endure a lot? I think when people allow the simple, the great will follow.

Many may not agree, which is okay! However, I am going to remain in the simple! If you want to be there with me, fine! If not, hit the road jack and don't cha come back no mo...no mo...

Blackberries are awesome! All typed on my curve--woohoo! See, simple!

Best Regards,

New Years...

Wow, I have not been here in a moment, but a lot has been going on in my life. I am blessed to ring in the new years with my son! I am blessed to have finished my first semester of law school--even while working 40 hrs. a week.

Well, I had a friend tell me that I f'ed up my son's life because I moved away to get a job with the federal government and start law school. Um, let's review the logic here. Here I am a African American male with an outstanding GPA (under grad and grad) who is being sought after by an agency, that is paying extremely well. Let's weigh the options: Admissions Counselor or a Federal Investigator job with the option to transfer. I am going to say the Fed. job wins. It never ceased to amaze me that individuals would use the most softest spot in your life to hit you hard with. Therefore, just focus on your best efforts in life. Just move on, and remove the negativity. Furthermore, don't let anyone ridicule or belittle the accomplishments in your life--sometimes, you have to toot your own horn people. That individual graduated college and is doing absolutely nothing worthwhile. If hanging out with friends and family is the measurement of success, then by all means I am in the wrong profession.

On another note, I should be starting my 90 day body transformation within the next week or so. I will definitely keep you posted on that. Until then, stay astute!

Best Regards,
